You can choose from various shared pools throughout the property, including the rooftop pool that overlooks the ocean next to the penthouse. Guests will also have access to white sandy beaches and tide pools on the rocky point to explore with the kids. Head down to the Jungle Fish Beach Club or Kai Beach club where they offer, meals, lounge chairs and options to rent kayaks and paddleboards or just steps away you can relax at our private beach club with amazing views, pool loungers and an outdoor shower. The Seaside Penthouse also features a large private rooftop patio with a Jacuzzi, a grill, and outdoor seating so you can spend as much time outside as you want, breathing in the ocean air while you lounge or entertain. As an added convenience, we have also included beach chairs and beach towels. The complex has multiple choices for rooftop pools or 2 ground level pools plus the beach club with gorgeous pools as well. One pool is adjacent to the full fitness room while the other pool has a rooftop yoga area with gorgeous ocean views. Both pools have propane BBQs to share. All areas are available to guests plus our guests receive a discount to the Jungle Fish and Kay Beach Club as well as the Tao Wellness Center. When choosing where to stay in Mexico, Akumal is the perfect choice if you're looking for untouched beaches, free of crowds and tourist traps but still close enough to the action to experience fabulous restaurants and attractions. About 25 miles south of Playa del Carmen, Akumal is a small town in Quintana Roo, Mexico. Because of its beautiful beaches and second-largest coral reef in the world, it is known as "the pearl of the Riviera Maya.". It attracts both divers and snorkelers from all over the world. Things to Do: For world-class diving, visit popular dive sites such as Shark Island, Fish Bowl Reef, and Shark Reef. The Mayan name "Akumal" means "land of turtles." If you're visiting us between May and September, we recommend witnessing the hatching process in this protected turtle sanctuary. If you're feeling adventurous, you can also try swimming with the aquatic life in the area. Restaurants: If you're in the mood for a great meal, try hitting up the Jungle Fish Beach Club! They have delicious resort-style meals in a welcoming environment. “Happy Hour” is on Thursdays from 4 - 5 p.m. Don’t miss checking out Turtle Bay Cafe & Bakery, known for their delicious eggs benedict and homemade ice cream. In just over a 30-minute drive, you can also visit Playa del Carmen, where there are plenty of restaurant options to choose from. It’s very tourist friendly with lots to see and do. Attractions: You can also plan into your itinerary, day trips to see some of the spectacular sites Mexico has to offer, like the ruins of Tulum (26 minutes away), Coba (1 hour and 5 minutes away), and Chichen Itza (2 hours and 18 minutes away). Our location is secluded and less commercialized, so you'll need your own vehicle when you stay with us. Several companies have stands inside the airport where you can rent a car before you leave. In the event that you are not renting a car after you leave the airport, it is recommended that you arrange a shuttle before you arrive. Taxis are available, but there are better options. If you're very adventurous you could catch the city bus, "The collectivo" but it is a 3km walk on a dirt road through the jungle to our place. The closest airport is Cozumel (CZM), 40.77 miles away, or the Cancun International Airport (CUN), which is 81.83 miles from town. Details to help your stay run smoothly: Don’t forget to bring your sense of adventure (it is Mexico, afterall). The road into the property has potholes, so please take it slowly. Rest assured, even if you’re driving a small car, you’ll be fine. This is the small price we pay for being off the beaten path and enjoying beautiful beaches free of larger crowds and overwhelming tourism. Please remember that we lose power from time to time, but it only lasts for a short period. For your convenience, Seaside Penthouse has blazing fast wifi and TVs connected for streaming your favorite shows, but don’t forget to disconnect as much as you can and enjoy your surroundings. Your safety and security are our top priority. At the property, we have a security guard on staff 24/7 stationed at the entrance to the condos. We also have carbon monoxide detectors, gas detectors, and smoke alarms.
